Top grain or full grain leather will age naturally developing a nice patina.

Avoid water. If soaked in water.:
- First, glues in certain areas of the wallet will start to loosen.
- Second, when leather dries after being soaked it holds whatever shape it is in.
- Finally, all that water flushes the oils out and the surface layer will crack.
